Why walk when you can dance?  (via soulpancake.com)

“I feel like I’m always on a mission and walking to fast and I don’t look around me.  This was great.  Everyone was looking at each other and dancing with each other and smiling.  It was really fun.”

E.P.I.C. Motion Dance Company’s Performance Showcase

Help support E.P.I.C. Motion Dance Company as we prepare for our first ever company performance showcase on Sat. April 23 at Peri Dance Center.  Any donations (big or small!) are greatly greatly appreciated!

Vist our Kickstarter Campaign page, follow us on Facebook or Twitter, or read below for more information.

E.P.I.C. Motion Dance Company (Energy and Passion Inspiring Collaborative Motion) has been performing hip-hop sets on the competitive East Coast circuit for 3 years now. After 3 years of growth we’ve become a company that’s much larger then just the hip-hop we’ve done in the past. Our dancers’ backgrounds range from hip-hop, house, jazz, contemporary, classical ballet, waacking to name a few. And now we’d like to show the world what else we’re capable of and give our members a chance to create pieces for themselves in a wide variety of styles.

THIS IS WHERE WE NEED YOUR HELP!

On April 23rd, we’d like to have our first ever performance showcase featuring works not only from the company’s artistic directors, but from company members as well at Peri Dance Center in New York City. Because we’re a totally self-funded team, all our current money goes to renting rehearsal space. We need your help to pay for the large cost of renting Theater Space. By donating you’ll help us continue to do what we love and help members express their energy and passion and hopefully inspire others to do the same.

The Big East Winter Intensive Philosophy (via E.P.I.C. Motion Dance Company)

Hey E.P.I.C. Fans.
With the Big East Winter Intensive only one week away we wanted to let everyone know the philosophy behind the weekend and the reason why everyone should be excited to take as many classes as they can.
For the EPIC directors, this intensive is important not just because we are paying homage to a lot of the amazing talent on the east coast, but we are also hoping that the mix of choreography and foundation styles will leave dancers with a deeper awareness of their bodies as well as the connections between all styles of dance.
We chose to include choreography dancers and dancers who specialized in foundation styles because we felt that now-a-days it is easy to feel a disconnect between dancing choreography and foundations. Sometimes we are so concentrated on executing one or the other that we forget to grow as a dancer, we have to constantly challenge ourselves to do both.
We saw that there is so much separation within the underground dance scene and choreography dance scene that we felt like it was time for all of us to come together and learn from one another. We wanted to introduce teachers who some of us might not have had the chance to learn from under normal circumstances. All the instructors we chose have very specific styles and different ways of movement. By choosing to pair up one foundation + one choreography class, dancers can can apply what they have learned from one to the other.
We hope that our intensive would be the first of many that brings all types of instructors from all walks of dance together.
Thank you everyone and we hope to see you on Saturday!

Sincerely,
The E.P.I.C. Motion Directors
